Upcycle collection with Pure Fabrications and Ryukyu Indigo Labo

Together with Pure Fabrications and Ryukyu Indigo Labo

As part of our upcycle project, we are excited to introduce a special collaboration with the Copenhagen-based handcraft collective "Pure Fabrications" and the Okinawa dyeing facility "Ryukyu Indigo Labo”.

These products feature Scandinavian embroidering designs from various countries and embroidered by the all-female design and production team at Pure Fabrications. Each piece is uniquely dyed by Ryukyu Indigo Labo who follow the local heritage indigo dyeing process from growing of the Japanese Ai plant to dyeing the final garment.

All products are one-of-a-kind.

Re-imagined Ryukyu Aizome T-shirt

Body:100% Organic Pima cotton Feature: Ryukyu Aizome (Natural Indigo Dyeing) Size: S~XL

–Ryukyu Aizome–

The natural indigo dyeing process focuses on fermenting the locally cultivated Ai plant, which is traditionally used for Japanese indigo dyeing. In order to express the unique texture and colour of Ryukyu indigo, the entire process from soil preparation for cultivation to dyeing is carried out in Okinawa, while maintaining traditional fermentation and dyeing techniques.
The body is made from organic Pima cotton produced without using any fertiliser or pesticide from indigenous Peruvian seeds.

Ryukyu Indigo Products

Ryukyu aizome is Okinawa's traditional indigo dyeing technique dating back several centuries. In order to maximise the unique texture and colour of Ryukyu indigo, the entire process from soil preparation to dyeing is carried out in Okinawa, while maintaining traditional techniques and methods.

Style can't be mass-produced.
